My family were riding bikes and we heard about The Loco Frijole and that it was a very good restaurant, we gave it a try and we all loved it! The owner did not miss a beat with us and always refilled the chips and the water! The owner was very nice and would talk to us about her life and other things. The food came very fast and was very good! I just love that it is surrounded by a bunch of tall trees. You should give this place a try!
We ordered catering from the Loco Frijole for an event, and Yanet was extremely responsive and on top of it. We got vegetarian and pastor tacos with rice, beans, chips, and LOTS of salsa and toppings. They delivered the food right on time and followed up to check in on how the food was - amazing people, great food!
Best Mexican food in Mammoth hands down + sweetest owners. Came here 2 days in a row - once for lunch with a party of 4 and the next day came for dinner with a party of 8 and they managed to get us in seconds before they closed, didn't turn us away and gave great service and delicious dinner! Food was hot and fresh and just really can't wait to come back here the next time we're in town. Truly appreciate the hospitality! Thank you!
Amazing food amazing workers and amazing owners. The owners came asked me how the food was and had amazing conversations, the waiters and waitress had friendly smile and conversation as well. The chefs did amazing I will be coming back. P.S Best margaritas in town
We were not sure what to expect. There were 6 of us and the kids ordered burger & fries (I know), chicken tenders, chicken quesadilla, burrito, chimichanga & taco plate. We also ordered guacamole. lol the food was good, the kids really enjoyed it. We also ordered margaritas, which I wasn't a fan of because they use mezcal instead of tequila without giving an option. Overall we liked our food. The service was great, the staff was friendly. The ambiance can use a little updating but overall a great experience.
It's not fancy, it's mom and pop type. With "mom" out at a table in the front doing the bills. Some of the decor might be a bit dusty or dated. A deep clean and freshen up might do this place wonders but- chips and salsa were good. Several locals told us this was the place to sit down and enjoy some good Mexican food. Not a lot of tables chefs were busy making it fresh. Movie was playing so it was like a show with dinner. I definitely say support this place and keep them on the mountain
A nice authentic, family-owned Mexican place in Mammoth. So glad we came here! We came for a late lunch on long weekend, so there was no rush there and service was fast. Their ambience was really nice and eclectic. The complimentary chips and salsa were to die for! Freshly made, I could have been full on that itself! Could only stop once the food order arrived. And I was not disappointed! Among all of us on the table, we had ordered Chicken Quessidila, Shrimp Taco, Fish Taco, Lobster Taquitos, Chicken Picado, Burrito in a bowl. Shrimp and fish taco and chicken picado (damn spicy though but delicious) were top-notch! Would recommend if looking for Mexican food in the area!
The chips and salsa will get you hooked. This small family-owned business is a must after a day on the slopes. The service is always wonderful from the moment you step in. Delicious fresh-made food and generous portions. Their burritos are huge! We always get lobster taquitos. The cilantro and chipotle sauce make it even better! The pinto bean soup sounds so basic, but you won't be sorry you ordered it. My husband initially didn't want one, but after he tried mine, we ordered one for him. Simple but really good. This is definitely a must when in a mammoth for an authentic home-cooked meal! Shop local, and support small businesses :)
Came back again last night around 8 p.m. with my BF. The chips and salsa were better than I remembered, and the salsa had a great kick. BF asked for a spicy margarita, and it was actually spicy!! We've tried (unsuccessfully) to get an actually spicy margarita for months (mostly in the LA area) and usually we get some sliced jalapenos and a tajin rim (or just the tajin rim) but nothing actually spicy. This place delivered!! BF and I shared another spicy margarita. The second one was just as spicy as the first. The secret? Muddled (not just sliced) jalapenos. Other places, take note!! For food, BF got the carnitas and cactus plate (I tried both the carnitas and the cactus and they were good) and I got the birria de chivo. There was more broth than I expected but the goat meat was perfectly shredded, flavorful, tender, and piping hot when it arrived. Will be back for more spicy margs, chips and salsa, and to try more food options. Keep up the great work, Loco Frijole!
A little family operated restaurant off Main Street. On a weekday night, there wasn't any other customers. The portions are very generous. The street tacos were piled with meat. The fajitas also came with a generous portion of meat. The complimentary chips and salsa was delish. We asked for seconds. Overall a great option especially when other places are overfilled.
